Islam Safwat is an Egyptian photojournalist and documentary photographer based in Cairo.He began his career in 2016, working with AP, Bloomberg News, and Getty Images, covering news events and daily life stories. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Washington Post, Bloomberg, WSJ, CNN, BBC, and more.In 2021, he earned a diploma in photojournalism and documentary storytelling from the Danish School of Media and Journalism (DMJX) in cooperation with DEDI, concluding with a graduation exhibition in downtown Cairo.Islam’s work focuses on social issues and human rights, often on underreported topics. Alongside his documentary practice, he also experiments with collage, mixed media, and artistic formats to expand his storytelling.
